Why is it important?

  • Problem Resolution: Concerns should always start with the person closest to the issue.

  • Procedural Order: Skipping levels in the chain can often result in the matter being sent back to the lower level for resolution.

  • Purpose: the structure defines reporting relationships, improves efficiency, and establishes clear lines of authority for decision-making.

Level 1 (Direct Staff): Teachers, Counselor or Bus Driver.

Level 2 (Building Level): Assistant Principal, then Building Principal.

Level 3 (District Administration): Directors of Special Services, Curriculum Directors, or Assistant Superintendent.

Level 4 (Executive Leadership): Superintendent of Schools.
